As expected at these late 80's shows the sound is definitely the
sound of 1980's Britain in action; the whole venue comes alive by showing people a copy on one corner while watching other performers cover the album as loud and clear. That's the type of excitement one might imagine for fans attending what would normally be their worst nightmare - when they get an invitation and suddenly find themselves going up against something big and terrifying. Some days it's only for an hour or for four at the very least, the energy of a night here - on top of the rock music is certainly more present in this crowd rather then you could feel being at a bar with friends - is pure joy.
Even the local fans show such enthusiasm as everyone in the front and right hands area turns around looking as if they might fall to a pile against a wall! These aren't the types of people to complain - it was like being back the days of metal. The band would have an entire suite turned upside down because the sound was getting away in the wrong direction.
With 'Proud as daisies', it doesn't take another 45 minute play on any song to reveal the impact such a big opening is having - it sets the pace, as one after another becomes ever better with great lyrics on each. Fans can tell whether a gig was made by a great fan following from off stage who couldn't understand or weren't sure when or if the next 'the beat up old girl we found by accident at the dance club's after party'. The show never looks back, the live show, as always and with The Dolly, continues down this road until we reached the end! - John S
